Thanks to our modern attitude and continual investment in energy efficient machinery and environmental controls, we have managed to reduce our electricity and gas usage by more than 13% in recent years – a figure we aim to keep driving down.

Does it really matter?
We doubt many businesses are really asking this question but – yes, of course it does!
Public demand for businesses to step up their game and take environmental responsibility is huge – and continues to grow. Companies are dealing with:
- Increased awareness – as public knowledge and understanding of the impact of plastic on the environment evolves, so too does the desire to do something about it.
- Increased expectations – the business world evolves at pace and customers expect you to keep up. But no longer are these demands simply based on offering the best product at the best price. There is now also an increased pressure to reduce your environmental footprint too.
- Taking responsibility – it’s up to all of us. Every step of a plastic bottle’s journey must be taken into consideration. Starting with the manufacturer doing everything in their power to minimise negative effects, right through to the end user placing it in the recycle bin.
- Plastic packaging tax – if you’re not already convinced then perhaps the approaching plastic packaging tax will help. From April 2022, the government will be introducing a new tax on any plastic packaging that fails to contain at least 30% recycled plastic. We are currently working with Valpak to get our production fully ready for the ongoing incorporation of PCR and our own in-house recycled plastic. We work with the support from the British Plastics Federation (BPF) who have the best interests of all of us at heart for the sustainable use of plastics.
